Could you tell me your full name, please?

My full name is Wang Yifei, but you can call me Fei.

How are you doing today?

I'm doing well, thank you, although I'm a little nervous.

Are you a student or do you work?

I'm currently a university student, and I major in philosophy.

Do you like your major?

Yes, I do. I've been interested in philosophy since high school because I'm curious and I enjoy asking why questions.

Is philosophy a popular major in your country?

No, I don't think it is. Many people think philosophy is too far removed from reality and may not lead to clear job opportunities.

Do you enjoy being the age you are now?

Not really. I sometimes feel stuck in the middle because I'm no longer a carefree child, but I'm not yet fully independent, either financially or socially.

What do you think is the most important at this moment for you?

The most important thing for me right now is my academic work. I'm preparing to apply for a postgraduate program, so I spend a lot of time writing a sample paper and researching related topics.

What stage do you think is the happiest for most people?

I think most people would choose childhood because children don't need to worry about bills, healthcare or housing. However, adulthood can also be enjoyable because adults are more independent and self-sufficient.

Do you like taking pictures of different views?

Yes, I do. I enjoy photographing both natural scenery and city views, especially modern and traditional architecture, from the whole building to its small details.

Do you prefer views in your own country or the views of other countries?

I haven't been to other countries, although I've seen photographs of their scenery. At the moment, I prefer views in my own country, especially traditional temples connected with Buddhism in China, because their architecture is beautiful and their colors are vibrant.

Describe a change that you made recently.

A change I made recently was deciding to continue studying in the philosophy department at Lingnan University in Hong Kong next semester. I studied there during the past semester, but my original plan was to return to my university in Beijing. However, I really enjoyed the academic atmosphere at Lingnan, so I decided that I wanted to spend another semester there. The main reason was that I wanted to pursue my passion for philosophy. There are professors there who work on topics that interest me, so I felt I could receive better academic support. Making this change required a lot of effort. My university's policy did not allow me to remain there as a formal exchange student, so my only option was to audit courses. I contacted professors to ask for permission, visited their office hours several times, and explained how much I appreciated the atmosphere and the courses offered there. Eventually, I received approval, which means I can return next semester. I have high expectations for the experience because it will allow me to continue studying philosophy in an environment that I genuinely enjoy.

Do you think it is good to change one's daily routine?

I think moderate changes are beneficial. If people follow exactly the same routine every day, they may become less aware of time and their surroundings. A small change can make life feel fresher. However, the change should not be too extreme because sudden major changes can create stress, anxiety and a sense of losing control.

Do you think it is good for a student to change their major?

It depends on how well prepared the student is. If students have a lasting passion for a subject and understand what studying it actually involves, changing their major can be helpful. For example, I changed my major to philosophy after being interested in it since high school, and I understood that it would involve research and analyzing sophisticated articles. On the other hand, changing majors without enough knowledge, ability or preparation could leave a student discouraged.

Why do you think people resist changes?

People often resist change because they feel safe in their comfort zone. Stepping out of it takes time and effort, and people may face challenges and obstacles that make them feel depressed or out of control. Some people are also less ambitious and simply want to live a peaceful life, so I don't think resisting change is always completely negative.

Who tends to change their daily routine more, young people or old people?

I would say young people change their routines more often. They usually have more energy, may become bored more quickly, and can find a new routine exciting. Older people, by comparison, may prefer a peaceful and stable life and simply want to enjoy their time.

What are the best ways for us to adapt to changes?

I think the best way is to stay open-minded. People need to learn how to handle different problems, communicate with different people and remain calm when difficulties arise. It is also helpful to listen to other people's advice because an open mind allows us to learn from their experience.
