Do you enjoy being the age you are now?
To be honest, not really. I feel like I'm kind of stuck in the middle. On one hand, I'm not a child anymore, so I can't just play around without a care in the world. On the other hand, I'm not a fully independent adult yet, as I don't earn my own money and still have to rely on my family financially.
What did you often do with your friends in your childhood?
When I was a kid, my friends and I would just run around without a care in the world. We used to play a lot of simple games together outdoors.
What do you think is the most important at the moment for you?
At the moment, the most important thing for me is pursuing my academic interests. I have a strong passion for philosophy and aspire to become a philosopher in the future. So right now, getting solid academic training and applying for a postgraduate program are my top priorities.
Did you have a favorite teacher when you were in primary school?
Yes, my favorite teacher in primary school was my geography teacher. I really liked his teaching style. He had a knack for making complicated terms sound very simple and vivid, which made the classes highly engaging.
Are you still in touch with your teachers from primary school?
Not really. When I was in primary school, I wasn't the kind of student who constantly caught the teachers' attention, so we didn't build a particularly strong or deep bond. Because of that, I haven't kept in touch with them.
Do you like wearing T-shirts?
Yes, definitely, especially when I'm at home. They are just incredibly convenient and comfortable to wear.
How often do you buy new T-shirts?
I probably buy new T-shirts on a seasonal basis. I usually pick ones that are suitable for every season and have classic designs that don't easily go out of style, so I can wear them for a long time.
How much money do you spend on buying T-shirts?
I'd say I spend approximately one hundred to two hundred yuan on each T-shirt. So, it's not very expensive.
Why do you think some people spend so much money on buying clothing?
I think some people are just really interested in the fashion industry and love keeping up with the latest trends. Others might view clothing as a representation of their social status, so they tend to opt for very expensive or famous brands to show off.
Describe a time when you sent someone a message or email but received no reply for a long time.
- Who you sent that email to
- What was the email or message about
- And how did you feel when you didn't get that reply
Last semester, I participated in an exchange program at a university in Hong Kong. At the end of the semester, I sent an email to one of my favorite professors who taught us the philosophy of language. The main purpose of the email was to express my gratitude and share my strong interest in their Philosophy Department. I admired how the professor could always make incredibly complex arguments easy to understand. Plus, the academic atmosphere in the department was very positive and made me feel greatly supported.
However, I didn't receive any reply for about a week. I started getting worried that my email might have been flagged as junk mail. So, when I ran into him at an academic conference, I just went ahead and asked if he had received it. He told me that he actually had, but he was just too busy to write back. Before knowing this, I felt a bit nervous and upset. I even joked with my friends that it felt exactly like sending a text to your crush and being completely left on read!
When do people take a long time to respond to a message?
I think people take their time when the message involves something important or is from someone they highly respect. For example, if someone is replying to a message from their boss or a company leader, they would take longer to ensure their response is comprehensive and polite. Some people are also just meticulous by nature and take everything very seriously, so they naturally draft their messages more carefully.
Why do people become angry and frustrated when others do not reply to their messages?
There are several reasons. For instance, if parents don't get a reply from their children, they might worry that their kids are in danger, which makes them anxious and eventually angry. In a workplace setting, if a colleague ignores a work-related message, it can hinder the team's productivity and cause frustration. Finally, many people simply interpret being ignored as a sign of disrespect, which naturally makes them upset or angry.
What situations do people not respond at all to messages or emails?
Sometimes people simply don't respond because they are overwhelmingly busy. For example, if they are participating in a very important conference, they literally might not have the chance to reply. On the other hand, some people might intentionally ignore a message to express their anger, disrespect, or negative attitude toward the sender.
What would you do if you received no replies for something important?
If it's something highly urgent and important, I would probably just call the person directly. If it's somewhat important but not an emergency, I might send a follow-up message to double-check after a couple of hours. However, if it's neither urgent nor particularly important, I would just be patient and wait for their reply.
